Hey John!
Just spent time on your weblog. (took awhile for me to find the paper you wrote your name on from the Ivy Singles Event.)
Your movie reviews are not to be missed: well thought out, researched and from the mind of someone who’s views are worth reading. I’m hooked! Hope to see you at the next Ivy Event.

John, I enjoyed meeting you last night at the Melancholia screening. I have never been a true fan of von Trier, but I do rate Breaking the Waves as one of the great films of the last quarter century. I admire your ability to crank out reviews so quickly after watching a film – I tend to ponder my reviews for a few days before committing my thoughts to “paper.”
Very nice blog, and very well written posts.
And I really liked Melancholia – easily my 2nd favorite von Trier, and very possibly in my top 10 for 2011…
John
I saw your review of “Thin Ice” from the Virginia Film Festival. As the director of “The Convincer” I would love to hear from you. My e-mail address is xxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.xxx. Thanks so much.
What was the result/conclusion of this post in 2009?

What kind of job did you end up getting?
I’m graduating in a year with a BS in math from a stat university,
and kind of have the same question/fears that the 2009 post explained!
Thanks.
After about two years of unemployment I ended up taking a position with a small software development company willing to take the chance that I could indeed pick up the needed skills quickly. Thankfully I had parental support to fall back on, or I might have had to take whatever menial job I could get just to pay the bills, which would have taken the time I needed to look for something better.
Great reviews dude! I’ll be sticking around for many more 🙂
