Sunday Samples 336

July 28, 2013

I should catch up a bit after a few busy weeks. So, for a unifying theme: last Friday the singer-songwriter JJ Cale died. Lots of his songs have been covered and made famous by big acts, so let’s kick it off with Eric Clapton performing “Cocaine”, off his 1977 album, Slowhand.

If you wanna hang out
You’ve got to take her out, cocaine
If you wanna get down
Down on the ground, cocaine

She don’t lie
She don’t lie
She don’t lie
Cocaine

If you got bad news
You wanna kick them blues, cocaine
When your day is done
And you wanna run, cocaine

She don’t lie
She don’t lie
She don’t lie
Cocaine

If your thing is gone
And you wanna ride on, cocaine
Don’t forget this fact
You can’t get it back, cocaine

She don’t lie
She don’t lie
She don’t lie
Cocaine

She don’t lie
She don’t lie
She don’t lie
Cocaine
